Compare with something you already wear. Lay a similar garment flat, smooth it gently, and measure without stretching.

Tops: measure chest width from armpit to armpit, length from the highest shoulder point to the hem, and sleeve length from the shoulder seam to the cuff.

Pants & shorts: measure across the waistband, hip width at the widest point, and inseam from the crotch seam to the hem. Double flat widths only when comparing with circumference measurements.

Inches or centimeters: 1 inch = 2.54 cm. Compare garment measurements with garment measurements; body measurements and size labels are not interchangeable.
